11/15/08 First weekend in Ashland
Finally a break from bike school. My first weekend in Ashland and began the morning off with breakfast at Morning Glory which happens to be directly next door to my motel. This place is supposed to be the best breakfast place in Ashland, also the most reviewed on yelp. It lives up to the hype, I ordered a chicken sausauge omelette with hash browns and and english muffin. The other plates are what my classmates ordered. After breakfast rode down to Siskiyou Cyclery about 1 mile down the road. The plan was to go mountain biking but I was supposed to meet Ashland Fixed for some bike polo. Pretty good shop, the good sign was the Chris King Headset in the showcase. Rode with them to Lithia Park where the trail begins. I made them drink the "special" water that smells like rotten eggs. Some pics of Lithia Park. I ended up going for my own ride to Medford on the Bear Creek Greenway bike trail which I found with the help of two ladies that I followed. Some great views on the trail but slipery leaves all over. I found a golf course on the way, but couldn't spot anything but the green. Finally got to Medford about 12 miles away and headed straight back to Ashland as the sun was about to set. Ended my ride at the food co-op, bought groceries and was pretty beat. This thin air is tough to ride in. I rode about 35 miles today but feels more like 100.
